Liposuction in Istanbul — assessment, planning and aftercare

All procedures are performed at Jelan Clinic, in our own facility, by our specialist medical team.

Liposuction reshapes localised areas by removing fat that has not responded to diet and exercise. It is a contouring procedure, not a weight-management treatment, and the plan is built around your proportions and your skin quality rather than around a single area.

Liposuction is a contouring procedure

Fat is removed to change the line of the body — the abdomen, flanks, arms, thighs or chin, depending on what the assessment shows. Removing fat does not tighten skin, and it does not replace a healthy routine. Understanding that from the start is what makes a realistic plan possible.

Where skin elasticity is limited, the assessment may show that another approach would serve the contour better. That is discussed openly at the assessment rather than discovered later.

If you are still comparing options, the candidates guide sets out how suitability is judged, and the body aesthetic procedures page places liposuction alongside the other contouring options.

The assessment

The first step is a medical assessment, not a booking. It looks at the areas that concern you, your proportions, your skin quality and your general health.

  • Areas of concern, and how they relate to the rest of the body.
  • Tissue distribution, skin quality and elasticity.
  • Medical history, medication and previous procedures.
  • Weight stability, and how the result is likely to settle over time.
  • What the procedure can and cannot achieve.

Planning the procedure

Your written plan sets out the areas to be treated, the approach proposed for your case, where the procedure takes place, the practical arrangements in Istanbul, and what follow-up involves. It also sets out what the procedure will not achieve, because that is part of planning honestly.

The choice of technique and the extent of the plan are clinical decisions made by our medical team after the assessment. If liposuction is not the right answer for your case, we say so at that point.

Recovery and aftercare

Recovery is individual and follows the written instructions you are given. Your plan sets out whether compression is part of your aftercare, and follow-up continues after you return home.

  • Follow written instructions on garments, activity and medication.
  • Keep your follow-up reviews, including remote ones after you travel home.
  • Report increasing pain, fever, unusual swelling or any concern rather than waiting.
  • Plan your return journey around the guidance you are given.

The garment itself is explained in our guide to compression after liposuction, and the step-by-step course in the recovery timeline.

Why patients choose Jelan Clinic

More than 15 years of experience, and more than 5,000 patients a year who contacted us and had their procedures performed at Jelan Clinic. Procedures are performed in our own facility, and our partnerships with hospitals aim at development — raising the level of technology and services — rather than at marketing. Jelan Clinic is an officially accredited centre working in the field of medical tourism, and all our procedures are performed legally and in line with the applicable regulations and licences.

For patients travelling from abroad, the assessment can begin remotely with photographs and medical information, and the in-person examination takes place before any procedure. The whole journey is coordinated, from the first enquiry through to follow-up after you return home.

Frequently asked questions

Is liposuction a weight-loss treatment?

No. It is a contouring procedure, and it is not a substitute for diet, exercise or weight management.

Am I suitable for liposuction?

Suitability is a clinical decision made after an individual assessment of your health, skin, proportions and goals.

Is the result guaranteed?

No. No procedure can guarantee a specific result, and anyone who promises one should be treated with caution. What you get is a careful assessment, a written plan and structured follow-up.

Can the fat come back?

Weight change and ageing affect the result over time. Your medical team will explain what supports a stable contour in your case.

Will I need a compression garment?

Your plan sets out whether compression is part of your aftercare, and you receive written instructions on the garment, its fit and how long to wear it.

How do I start?

Send your details and photographs to our patient team. The first step is always a consultation and a medical assessment — not a decision made over a message.

Before you decide

Ask what the plan involves, what it will not change, what aftercare requires and who follows you once you are home. The suitability of any treatment is determined by our medical team after an individual assessment.
